S1-005 00:15:02:14 OC “Winter- it can be so cold, with an average winter temperature in Southern Ontario at minus 14 there’s no wonder why people dream of a tropical escape.”

S1-005 – 00:17:19:12 OC “According to Stats Canada in 2006 over 2 million people head south to the sunny state of Florida during winter. A trend that is very Canadian of us”

S1-003 Music Insert B-roll of “Flight Center Sign”

S1-003 00:03:37:27 Clip At the moment because its -50 degrees outside, the trend has been towards a lot of Caribbean travel. People just want to get away somewhere it’s hot. You know being warmer is really what its about right now. But in terms of doing something different I’m seeing lots of big trends towards South America. And a lot of people are becoming more open to the idea of independent travel. So Asia is becoming a very popular market as well. But for people in general the Caribbean is still the best value for money and obviously the warmest destination.

S1-005 – 00:021:01:04 OC “Talking about heading south, while we’re braving the cold temperatures and digging out our cars from the snow, meet Lindsay Smith. She’s a student at Sheridan who’s ditched her winter clothing for sun block—talk about unfair!”

Need to insert

S1-005 -00:23:31:28 OC “Well Lindsay that’s nice, but there is no way flip flops would cut it in some of the snowiest locations here in Ontario. Toronto alone receives on average 133cm of snow each year and that means we need the right gear.”

S1-008 OC “… And what better way to get around town, then with a pair of these”

S1-008 Music Insert – Pan of Australian Boot Company;
S1-008 Clip “We’re here at the Australian Boot Company and we’re going to find out all there needs to know about winter boots.”

S1-008 – 00:00:08:30 Clip Andria “Uh Well the sheepskin boots from the Uggs and the Emus, they’re just super warm. They’re made from sheepskin, they’ve been around… that style of boot has been around for a hundred and fifty – two hundred years just as a really warm boot. They’re great. Pilots used to use them in WWII to keep warm and surfers have used them. So they were just an easily available commodity back in the early days. And in the 70s I think…a guy came from Australia to the US and brought the product to the North American market.”

S1-008- 00:00:11:15 Clip Andria “There’s definitely a growth in that market, especially because the last two winters have actually been cold in Toronto specifically. And even out in Vancouver it’s cold this year, they have snow. I think that definitely as our winters are getting cold again people definitely want something warm for their feet.”

S1-008 – 00:00:12:29 Clip Andria “…they’re all making a big resurge just because its cold and it’s kind of fashionable to be warm right now. Not wearing your stilettos, that kind of thing.”

V/O “Love them or hate them, they are everywhere! We took to the hall of Sheridan with the UGG counter- to see just how popular are they.

S1-007 Music Insert - Head to the hall, sped up video.
Montage of “UGG” boots

Need to insert pina colada clip”

S1-007 00:06:33:11 OC “While your drinking Pina Coladas, were standing in Tim Horton’s line ups for hot.”

S1-007 00:12:55:25 OC “Did you know the average Canadian consumes 86liters of coffee –that means 205 of these for each person in Canada.”

ETRO
V/O So if you cant afford a trip down south, get some UGGS, some COFFEE, and don’t worry because winter only lasts 62 days out of the year.”
