V/O – With all the talk of global warming you may wonder where those mild temperatures are. And you'd be right in guessing that this winter is rather unusual. In fact, it's the coldest it's been in 15 years.
B-Roll of winter snow, people walking in snow etc.

CLIP: David Phillips of Environment Canada describing how much snow, how much cold and comparing it to other years 45 secs.

V/O: In the winter a lot of people feel blue – a result of the fewer sunshine hours. With Christmas passing and the winter weather really kicking into gear is a harsher winter good for retailers?

CLIP: Retailer with a fact of sales up or down?

V/O : Canadians spend a considerable amount of money on their household snow blowers. In 2003, more than 200,000 households purchased a snow blower, with half spending over $800.2 Just over 20% of households3 owned a gas-powered snow blower in 2006.4 Snow blowers were most popular in New Brunswick, where they were owned by 36% of households (Chart 1).

SOUND UP OF TREADMILL: Kassie running on treadmill

V/O – Clearing their driveway with snowblowers and shovels isn't the way most Canadians prefer spend their winter. If you're at your wits end about trying to get through the winter without going crazy, meet Kassie Sliekers. She's set her own goals for the winter season.

CLIPS of Kassie/B-Roll running etc. (1:00 min.)

V/O We're all suffering because usually, winter isn't the most desired season. But with ice-fishing, cross country skiing and snowboarding why do Canadians find it so difficult to cope during this snowy season? Here are some of our suggestions of what to do if you're already bored with winter!
